Daisy Hack
Margherita Hack (1922-2013) was the first Italian woman to direct the Astronomical Observatory of Trieste from 1964 to 1987. Astrophysics was also in the working groups of ESA and NASA. Hack founded and directed "L'astronomia", the most important astronomical popularisation magazine there has been in Italy (closed in 2008). Beyond science, Hack is also remembered for her social and political activity and for her civil rights battles.
