Caroline Herschel
With his studies he has traced a bridge between ancient astronomy and modern astronomy, cataloging and recording 2500 Nebulae. Most likely, Caroline Lucretia Herschel (1750-1848) was the first woman to discover a comet. In 1828, the Royal Astronomical Society awarded her its gold medal, never again given to a woman until 1996.
