She became the symbol of the Holocaust thanks to her diary, written while she and her family were hiding in an attic in Amsterdam. The Nazis had recently invaded Holland, extending racial laws to the country. In 1942 she who wanted to become a writer receives a notebook as a gift. On this he will write his Diaries, today one of the most read books in the world and a fundamental testimony of the horror of the Holocaust. His was a tragic end: having passed from the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp to that of Bergen-Belsen, he died of exanthematous typhus in March 1945, only three weeks before the liberation of the camp.
